Psalm 146:1 All my life long I’ll praise God, singing songs to my God as long as I live.tammy

I have a little cassette tape of my dad giving a testimony in church before I sang when I was about 4 years old. This is what my dad said, “Years ago I prayed, God if you will give us a child, I will give that child back to you. God gave us Tammy, and she loves to sing for the Lord. When she was born I gave her back to God for Him to use her for His glory, so here she is to sing for you.” I stood up right beside my dad and sang. I loved to sing.

I love music. I have a song for everything. My children become weary of me always putting their words to a song. I guess you could say music is in my blood. My parents sang in church, and we spent many weekends in the homes of friends sitting around singing. Music has always been a big part of my life. I love to sing and play the piano. So I am so grateful that my parents gave me a deep love for music.

Yet even more than music, they began at an early age to instill in me a deep love for God. They taught me by example whom they trusted with their lives. So at the age of 8 years old, I made my own decision to ask Jesus in my heart and to live the rest of my life for Him.

The reason I can stand up and sing is because God has flooded my soul with His praise. He has given me His song to sing. This verse says, all my life I will praise God. That is my long term plan. Forever I will stand and proclaim my love for my God in song, in word, and in deed. He has filled my heart with His love. I have placed my life in His hands forevermore. I want to use the talent He gave me to serve Him until I have no voice to sing.

This chapter goes on to say, Don’t put your life in the hands of experts who know nothing of life, of salvation life…instead put your hope in God and know real blessing! That excites my heart! Why would we put our trust in people or in things that will pass away, things that are only for a season, then they decay? God is the one who formed each of us from nothing. He breathed life into my very body. He has blessed me since the day I was born. My heart is His! The only way to know real blessing is to live fully for Him. I want that, don’t you?

This chapter goes on to share the benefits that God offers each of us. I love this one, He always does what He says. We never have to wonder if He will come through for us, He will! He never changes, He will do as He has promised. He will never forsake His children. It goes on to say, He defends the wronged, He feeds the hungry, God frees prisoners, He gives sight to the blind, He lifts up the fallen, God loves people. Look at that list. Do you see yourself in there and what God has done for you? Oh how He loves each of us, He is so good! Psalm 103 reminds us not to forget His benefits. They are too numerous to count! We have so much to praise Him for, so much.

Many years ago He set my life to music, and He gave me words to sing! I will praise Him forevermore! I will lift my voice to Him until I have to voice and then my heart will lift Him high until He takes me home. We have a reason to sing, we have a reason to worship! Oh that we would lift our voices to heaven and praise Him daily for the life He has given each one of us. I love Him, and praise Him for the life He has given me. I have so much to praise Him for, I could never run out of praise for my God.

The song I sang on the cassette long ago is titled, I don’t know what you came to do, but I came to praise the Lord. I am so thankful for the home I was born into and the Godly heritage God has given me. He gave me a song and I will use my life forevermore to sing for Him. All my lifelong I’ll praise God, singing songs to my God as long as I live.

Let these lyrics flood your soul today. Stop wherever you are and praise the one who gave you life. If I had no voice, if I had no tongue, I would dance for You like the rising sun. And when that day comes and I see Your face, I will shout Your endless, glorious praise!
