As I was spending time with God this morning, there was a line in my devotion book that has stuck in my mind all day. “Relax with Me while I ready you for action.” For a few weeks now I have been reminding a dear friend of mine, she needs to learn to chill-axe! God had not been answering a prayer the way she had hoped and she became very anxious. Can’t we all relate to that? As I began to daily encourage her in God’s Word, I found that He was using this time to remind me of the same thing. It’s time to relax and let me show you the path I have for you my child.

I get so excited when I see God begin to move in my life. So sometimes I tend to want to take the steering wheel into my hand and press the gas and move forward a little quicker. I have a feeling some of you might know what I mean! God always has to remind me, it doesn’t work that way. He leads, and I follow. There is no in between. Sometimes waiting is part of His plan for us. Psalm 31:3 says, For You are my rock and my fortress; therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me.

I feel like that is what God has been saying to me. Tammy, take a deep breath and sit back and just listen to my voice. I will tell you where I want to use you, and I will tell you when I want to use you. Your job is to sit back and relax and know I am in full control. I know every event that will occur in your day this very day. I want you to be still and just listen for my tender voice, then you will hear me.

This morning my girls and I were running behind in our morning routine. We left a little later than we normally do to get them to school. As I neared the bottom of the side walk, I saw that I had a tire almost flat. Everyone we tried to call wasn’t answering. My teenage daughter had a very important test to take so at this point she began to panic and cry. This became a very tense situation. I kept calling but no one was answering or the one’s that did couldn’t help. After a while I found someone that graciously helped with the tire so we could finally go. The situation was out of my hand this morning, we had no choice but to sit back, and wait.

God uses the word “wait” over and over in the Bible. Look how long Joseph had to wait for God to show him the perfect plan He had for his life. He had to wait about fourteen years to see God’s plan for his life come into play. That is a long time! I would say everyday Joseph had to talk to God and God would say, “Joseph be patient, I have a plan to use you, relax and wait on me.” That is what Joseph did. Look at the plan God had for him after years of pain and suffering. He made him second in charge to the Pharaoh. I can’t help but smile to think about the grandness of God’s design for Joseph’s life.

God has a plan for your life and mine. Where I am right now is in the waiting game. I am to seek Him daily and be open to whatever plan He has for my life. As I wait, I am to relax and just know He is trustworthy. As I pray, I can rest knowing He will answer at His appointed time. At the appropriate time He will begin to reveal His perfect plan for my life. That is so exciting to me! As I wait I will follow Him and serve Him wherever He opens doors for me. Psalm 139 always reminds me He knows everything about me. He knows when I get up and when I lie down. He is perfecting that which concerns me, Psalm 138:8 tells me. How exciting is that? So go enjoy your day and chill-axe knowing the same God who made the stars cares about every part of your life. Maybe He is reminding you today as He has me, to relax with Him while He ready’s you for action!
